❝THANK THE MEDICAL CORPS❞
The pandemic that our world has just suffered from the full force, we have not forgotten it. The 8 p.m. applause during the first wave of Covid, to thank the nurses, we vaguely remember.
By way of recognition and not to forget the dedication and investment of the medical profession who was on the front lines in this ordeal, Semaj wishes to offer him two major works which will be installed in two separate places.
I don't know yet if my painting will definitively begin a "linear turn".
Still, it has been a long time since I wanted to create artworks from simple geometric shapes, solid colors and the eternal black line that has always accompanied my paintings. I never ventured into it, as I felt it was going to be too simplistic and childish, but the thought of it never left me either.
Then I saw this intervention by Nina KRAVIZ on ARTE, in which she made a parallel between her music and minimalist abstract painting, and evoked a sincere approach in simplicity. She also says “that to make a painting reduced to very simple shapes you need a solid classical training in drawing. Any minimalist work reduced to simple forms requires an enormous artistic baggage. We must be able to have recourse to knowledge, experiences, memory, culture… ”
This intervention by Nina KRAVIZ wanted me to materialize this need to develop my painting towards a style that we could call “figurative abstraction” or “abstract figuration”. Take pleasure in discovering my first works made in this artistic movement.
