GENESIS
If the obscene and magnificent letters that James JOYCE wrote to his wife Nora during his trip to Trieste, are known and published; Nora’s, in response to the latter, remain unknown.
“The fact that you can choose to be by my side fills me with pride and deep joy.” – September 16, 1904
“My mind rejects all of today’s social order and Christianity – the family home, recognized virtues, social classes and religious doctrines.” – August 29, 1904
“Some pages are ugly, obscene and bestial, some are pure and sacred and spiritual: I am all that.” – September 7, 1909
“My sweet little whore from Nora, I did what you told me to do, dirty little girl, and I wanked myself twice by reading your letter.” – December 8, 1909
“I hope and still hope that you too will write me letters even crazier and dirtier than the ones I send you.” – December 13, 1909
So, let ourselves be carried away by our imagination tinged with eroticism and prohibitions.
Perhaps Nora, in response to James ‘letters, had the desire to send him not writings, but photographs taken by a close friend, heavily charged with sexuality in order to maintain James’ desire and encourage him to write back these letters that we have the pleasure of knowing.
