This polyptych of 16 paintings entitled "CONSTRAINTS" is a striking work that addresses a universal subject: the constraints we face every day. We are all subject to constraints, whether at work, in our relationships, in our private life… They can be of very different natures and influence our lives in a considerable way, in pain and also in pleasure.
However, the choice is ours as to how we manage these constraints. We can choose to let ourselves be forced into suffering, or learn to tame them and derive satisfaction from them, or even pleasure or enjoyment for some of them. Constraints can be seen as challenges to be met and an opportunity to develop our ability to adapt and our creativity.
Each of these 16 paintings shows in a graphic and poetic way how we can learn to live with the constraints that surround us. Bright colors and abstract shapes reinforce the idea that constraints can be tamed and become a source of satisfaction.
The steel framework reinforces the idea that constraints can be seen as structures that allow us to orient ourselves in life. They can be a source of support and give us a certain stability, even if they can sometimes be perceived as constraining.
This polyptych also offers a reflection on freedom. A freedom which is in reality the ability to choose one's own constraints. We are free to choose the constraints that suit us best and to accept them voluntarily. Without any sexist thought, this idea is reinforced by the quote from Jean GIRAUDOUX "Women only consent to constraint. But then with enthusiasm." This shows that constraints can be accepted with enthusiasm and become a source of pleasure.
In short, "CONSTRAINTS" is a powerful work that invites us to reflect on the constraints in our daily lives and on the way we apprehend them. They show that constraints can be seen from another angle and become a source of satisfaction. This polyptych is a graphic work that shows the complexity of how to apprehend them and how constraints can influence our lives. In short, "CONSTRAINTS" invites us to take a new perspective on the constraints that surround us and to learn to tame them in order to derive lasting satisfaction from them.
